The Scripture ~ “ I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” John 10:10

The Practice of ~ Opening to an abundant life.

The Spiritual Focus ~ Whatever we are waiting for – peace of mind, contentment, grace, the inner awareness of simple abundance – it will surely come to us, but only when we are ready to receive it with an open and grateful heart. Sarah Ban Breathnach

The Devotion ~ One of the biggest ahha moments in the life of one who practices their faith, one who follows the teachings of Jesus, is when our actions transition into a natural way of living, a natural way of being. Perhaps one of the most misplaced ideas of faith is that if we do more, God will love us more and bless us more. The truth is God could not love us more than God already does, and God has blessed us with life, abundant life now and not yet. When we have the ahha moment or realization of this reverse in our thinking, our life is changed, we live out of a grateful heart. When we are open and grateful for this gift, we live the abundant life that God created us to live, as human BEings.

Similarly, many of us came to our mats the first time because we heard it was physically good for us. We compartmentalized and relegated yoga to something that we do and for some very good reasons. However, if we practice long enough we realize that the benefits of yoga and of Yogadevotion in particular, become a way of life rather than something we do. We aren’t just doing yoga we are living a yogic lifestyle. People in our faith and yoga practices live out into the world peacefully, content and by the grace of God live an abundant life. Is this always easy? No.

Next week is Holy Week, our lent intentions will culminate and we will enter the Easter story. We will enter the story again of Jesus who came giving us a vision of an abundant life of love and to fulfill a promise of eternal life. We will see that it was not easy, it was a painful journey, yet it was a journey that fulfilled God’s promise of abundant life together.
