Christmas
The Scripture ~ “Be still and know that I AM God.” Psalm 46:10
The Spiritual Focus ~ “Yoga will make you sensitive to the stillness, the presence, the hush, the peace of God. This deep inner stillness is at the core of your being. It is the ground, the joy of your being. The radiant peace you’ll experience is what happens naturally when the creative energy of the Universe is allowed to flow through you unobstructed.” Erich Schiffman
The Devotion ~ There is a breath that happens the day after Christmas, it is a breath of hushed stillness. It is a breath that calls us to pause, to hush and reflect on what we have just celebrated, the mystery and miracle of the sacred ~ human experience. This year, in the Midwest, the breath of stillness was ushered in by the quiet of long awaited snowfall. In the space of remembering the joy of Christmas yesterday and looking toward the reordering of our lives in the coming days of the new year, God invites us to pause, be still, breathe and allow God’s energy flow through us.
To BE still is one of the hardest practices people in faith and yoga attest to. We are trained to push forward, to achieve, to do. Practicing stillness in those magical moments is the difference between doing yoga and living yoga. Practicing faith is similar, living our faith is the way of God, not simply naming our faith. The way of God begins in yoga and in faith when we hush, become still and experience God’s Presence and let God’s energy flow through us.
