Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy before The Lord.

Devotion
Deep roots and supple strength . . . it is hardly a surprise that those who seem to weather the storms of life and still find joy are people who are grounded. They don’t panic easily, they are flexible, and they seem to have a sense or confidence that “everything is going to be all right.”
In our yoga practice we build our asanas from the foundation up. We ground down to gain stability and balance before we go further into the pose. In our faith practice we are rooted in God’s promise of everlasting presence and life. Our foundation is based not in our own strength but in God’s promise. Deeply rooted and possessing supple strength, we are free to grow and revel in the joy of The Lord—no matter the weather.

Focus Pose: Tree Pose, vriksasana, is one of the iconic yoga asanas, and yogis have lots of advice on how best to enter the pose. This week, keep it simple. Get back to your roots—maybe practice a modified, so-called “simpler” version so that the focus is on the foundation of the pose: grounding down to lift up. Then spread your branches and sway in the breeze.
