The Scripture ~ God is love. When we take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us. This way, love has the run of the house, becomes at home and mature in us, so that we’re free of worry on Judgment Day—our standing in the world is identical with Christ’s. There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear.

The Practice of ~ managing fear
The Spiritual Focus ~ Not being in control brings fear, remembering God’s in control brings peace. Unknown Author
The Devotion ~ A recent quote on FB drew a great deal of attention, the quote read,
“Sometimes the fear won’t go away, so you just have to do it afraid.” The number of people who responded to this statement was a not so subtle reminder, that fear is something that we have all experienced and to a greater or lesser degree, tried to manage. Fear can be a protective mechanism in our fight or flight response to danger. Fear can keep us locked in a “known” situation. Fear of the unknown might actually be the next step of your journey. Fear can keep us from…dancing.
While it is true that we may have to step into a situation even if we are afraid, scripture promises that we are never alone and God’s love casts out all fear. We connect with a love that banishes all fear when we are in tune with our “God inklings,” “the Holy itch,” some call it a “God smack” that reminds us that we live in God and God lives in us. We have nothing to fear.
For some of us stepping on our mat was fear producing, for some of us getting quiet holds an element of fear. But the more we practice, remembering that God’s love overcomes all our fears, banishes all fear and brings peace…the more we are able to be confident in love that overcomes fear. That is how we practice our faith, and that is what we practice in Yogadevotion.
