We are excited to announce out Keynote speaker Father Tom Ryan. Here is an introduction from Rev Cindy Senarighi

Fr. Tom Ryan and his work was pillar of support in the early days of Yogadevotion. At my first yoga training I had an experience of God’s presence during savasanna that lead me to explore if others had experienced such epiphanies. In my search I  found Tom’s book, Prayer of the Heart and Body. His book gave me the foundation and language to share my experience with other Christians that were exploring yoga, thru Yogadevotion. Tom stood with me when we did interviews challenging the idea of yoga and the Christian faith. He consistently invites conversations that explore the intersections of faith and yoga. We shared good theological conversations at a retreat he founded called Oakridge and best of all when he returns home to Minnesota for the holidays we make a concerted effort to connect. In planning this virtual retreat my first thought was to ask Tom to be the keynote speaker because he was so well received at an in person retreat some years ago. Fr. Tom continues today doing the good work of reminding us that we have an embodied faith that can not be left out in our journey to experience God’s presence. He reminds us that thru the spiritual practice of yoga and meditation we can enhance our relationship with God and each other in Jesus.
Much Gratitude in welcoming Fr. Tom Ryan to Yogadevotion’s Virtual Retreat

Keynote address, Incarnational Faith: The Word Became Flesh
The implications of that prologue line in John’s gospel that “the Word became flesh” means that God is now identified with our human body. So we’re not burdened but gifted with embodied being. We must know that our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit that is within. In short, God is now identified with this body. How can we celebrate that? Yoga itself is not a religion, but a spiritual practice and science that can help us advance towards a greater realization of our human potential. It can support us in living a holistic Christian spirituality and benefitting from practices that contribute to it. Salvation doesn’t mean getting out of this skin, but being transfigured and glorified in it! “Glorify God in your bodies” (1 Cor. 6:20)

Included with your registration you will be getting an envelope of Bling Blessings!  You will use these little treasures during the retreat to help you connect, stay grounded and be in the presence of God!”
