As people living in our time and culture we all are forced to look outside our bodies because just so much dependents on how we respond to each crises. Yin Yoga brings me to me-inside. When I get familiar with this me-inside, I get to relearn the me-side I have been since birth.
Coupled with this grounding/spiritual element are the physical benefits of Yin yoga, especially for those who have stepped outside of the fitness camp and want to get back but slowly, carefully. Yoga is the dance of stretching to the edge of discomfort and newness at some time, coordinating your movement subtle or broad with your breath rhythm. It’s freeing to focus at our physical efforts to relaxing, breathing, and letting be. Yoga classes become a luxury not an obligation. Simple movement combined with breathing and meditation is almost the treatment for all aliments. What I like is that my regular practice brings a quietening of the age aches convincing me I have a few more miles left.
