Lent is a time of reflection and contemplation on the life, love, mission and way of Jesus. It was a journey for Jesus that led to death on a cross and resurrection. The Christian narrative is a story that in a very real way embodied God’s great love for us. Giving up something or adding something to your life is a common lent practice in many Christian denominations, this year Yogadevotion offers the opportunity to explore what it means to be “in” your body as a way to reflect on the journey of Jesus.
We will begin our journey on Ash Wednesday with a meditation titled, Ashes and Stardust taught by Rev. Cindy Senarighi RN Owner of Yogadevotion.
Ash Wednesday is the beginning of Lent, a season in the church year for reflection on the life, mission, and death of Jesus. The imposition of ashes is a spiritual practice that is a visual sign of our intention to reflect. The words that are spoken, “dust to dust,” remind us that our bodies came from and will return to dust and, thus, are our temporary home. The narrative of creation is that we are made of God-breathed clay, dirt, and dust–the same stuff of stars.
On Ash Wednesday we begin our Embodied Lenten Journey, grounding ourselves in the solid foundation of the root chakra, our breath, scripture, gentle movement and concluding with prayer and meditation. We will reflect on our earthly connectedness to God, each other, and the cosmos.
Each subsequent Wednesday will be taught by either a guest instructor or a Yogadevotion instructor. We will anchor ourselves in scripture, pranayama, and a gentle yoga practice, ending with savasana. We will also be introducing how chakra’s, energy points in our bodies, anchor us and guide our lent journey, reflecting on the way of Jesus. Guest instructors include; Kelly McLellan owner of Getting Still Studio’s, Sarah Grow of Yogadevotion, Allyson Huval of Bethel Yogi, Abhishek Daas, Heidi Green, Gentle Breath Yoga, and Ame Kitch of Moon Celebrations Yoga. This will be a donation based offering, attend one, attend them all. This will be an experience available to seasoned yogi’s and beginners.
Upon registration you will receive a Yogadevotion ticket with a Zoom invitation on it. Please, save this link for entry to class each week.
